Rachel and Mike | Our wedding day | Orton Hall | Holy Trinity Church | Peterborough | 18th August 2017

Orton hall teases the main road in Orton Longueville with its 20 acres of parkland, surrounding its 17th century manor. It is easy to fall in love with this venue and that is exactly why Rachel and Mike couldn’t resist to have their wedding day here. Being together for 15 years after meeting at a school party, the venue had to be perfect and special. They also wanted a religious ceremony and Orton hall is blessed with the Holy Trinity church, which sits snug in the village next to the hall.

I carefully carried out a final recce, taking into consideration the logistics and light. Also, Rachel had requested specific shots for me to take. One in particular, was a photograph by the window in her room with her gorgeous wedding dress and glorious cathedral length veil. This shot wouldn’t have been possible without the help of bridesmaid Rosie. One has to literally get intimate to create this stunning effect with the veil and after showing Rachel the previews on my camera, she said to me “that’s the one I want for my canvas print!”.

There was a bit of a contagious theme amongst the guests for this wedding, which was instigated by our very own bride. As far as genres go for themes, we had “vogue” and “strutting it”. Everyone got fully into the modelling side of things and I have never seen so many guests wanting a mini shoot with the bride. Creating the glamorous hair styling was a fine chap, Ben Barnes Charming from “The Only Way is Ben”. Now this guy really works the glamour into the hair and leaves nothing until it is spiffing darling. He styled the bride’s posse and was there for the whole day making sure the bride was flawless.  I work with a lot of models and some “work it” better than others. However, Rachel was a natural at it and to accompany her beauty was her handsome groom, Mike. They were an awesome couple and they really loved their shoot. I always show my previews on my camera to the bride and groom during the day or during a scene we just shot. Yes that’s right, non edited, just beautifully captured. If you take the shot right in the first place, one can show off true photography.

The rain and a mini thunder storm did make an appearance, so I had to judge when the best times to organise the bride and groom shoot, formal shots and the confetti shower. My famous confetti shot was captured beautifully once again and I also gave the illusion that I had an assistant photographer…you can see a wide version and a zoom perspective.

The day ran wonderfully and there was a special surprise for the first dance. Rachel and Mike’s child Analise, sang Jennifer Hudson’s “One Night Only”. You can see the emotion on both the bride and groom, making it a beautiful end to my memory catching for their wedding day.
